Most recently PGMI has become attached to the Lahore General Hospital ; it will be shifted to the premises of LGH on completion of its building.

Modern hospital buildings are designed to minimise the effort of medical personnel and the possibility of contamination while maximising the efficiency of the whole system. The infectious diseases ward operates as an isolated unit from the rest of the hospital, therefore minimizing the risk of exposure and cross contamination to patients in other areas of the hospital. Our highly trained consultants and staff are on-call 24 hours a day, with central monitoring in place to observe all patients in critical care. A 23-bedded negative pressure facility was constructed, fully equipped with it’s own critical care equipment, ventilators, an operation theatre and a labor room. In addition, separate pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services, to cater specifically to Covid-19 patients have also been added to the facility.

For example, Narayana Health's cardiac unit in Bangalore specialises in cardiac surgery and allows for a significantly greater number of patients. It has 3,000 beds and performs 3,000 in paediatric cardiac operations annually, the largest number in the world for such a facility. Surgeons are paid on a fixed salary instead of per operation, thus when the number of procedures increases, the hospital is able to take advantage of economies of scale and reduce its cost per procedure.
